|Title: Weather Diary 29 September 1927|
Concept: Fall Tornadoes.
Detail: The tornado season is not over. As
cool air masses from Canada begin to penetrate southward once again they
can often trigger violent thunderstorms. Although not usually as severe
as in the spring, they can produce death dealing tornadoes. This particular tornado swarm generated tornadoes from Oklahoma through Iowa and
into Indiana. 81 persons perished. A major disaster occurred in St.
Louis, MO as the twister moved for over 2.5 miles through the city.
